Job summary

Jones Engineering invites applications for a 6-12 month Work Placement Electrical Engineer in Ireland. The role is onsite across Dublin, Cork, Kildare and Wicklow with overseas opportunities across Europe.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to progress projects, conduct technical assessments, prepare reports, and coordinate with stakeholders to meet milestones. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree, has strong Microsoft Office skills, and

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Electrical trade background would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is required.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and contribute to project reports and documentation.
  • Assist with supplier analysis to ensure alignment with design specifications.
  • Review schematics, GA plans, and project specifications.
  • Support design validation and equipment/system checks.
  • Complete technical submittals, RFIs, equipment registers, and trackers.
  • Analyse design documentation to identify scope gaps.
  • Assist on-site quality reviews and ensure compliance with the project team.

Position: Work Placement Electrical Engineer 2027 (6-12 Months)
Role Locations

Onsite – Dublin, Cork, Kildare, Wicklow, Mainland Europe (Denmark, UK, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, German, Finland – further locations TBC)

Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer on a 6-12 month work placement, you will play a pivotal role in our project development and implementation process. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to ensure the successful completion of projects. Your role will include conducting technical assessments, preparing reports, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that project milestones are met.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Project Reporting: Report to the Project Manager on project progress, risks, and issues.
  • Supplier Analysis: Analyse supplier information to ensure alignment with design specifications.
  • Design Review: Review and understand schematics, GA plans, and project specifications.
  • System Validation: Conduct design reviews and validate equipment and systems.
  • Documentation: Complete technical submittals, RFIs, equipment registers, and trackers.
  • Scope Analysis: Analyse all design documentation and identify any scope gaps.
  • Quality Review: Review quality on-site by walking down systems to ensure compliance with the project team.

This role will provide exposure to a wide range of expertise in the electrical engineering and construction sectors. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge on a pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer as their knowledge and responsibilities grow and evolve.

Skills And Requirements
  • Qualification: Currently pursuing a degree in an Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Trade Background: Electrical trade background would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is required.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
