Job summary

BnM is seeking a Wind Farm Technician to join our team in Ireland. You will maintain wind turbines alongside OEM technicians, following OEM procedures to meet maintenance targets while prioritising safety and reliability.

The role covers operating and maintaining substations, fault diagnosis, and the ability to work at heights. Travel to other wind, solar and battery sites and on‑call duties may be required. HV experience and IT proficiency are desirable.

Qualifications

• Electrical Craft Certificate QQI Level 6 or equivalent required in Ireland.
• 5+ years experience in Power Generation or industrial plant environments.
• IT proficiency and familiarity with HV operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of wind turbines alongside OEM technicians following OEM procedures.
• Operate and maintain substations to maximise plant availability and safety.
• Carry out fault diagnosis; ability to work at heights.
• Proactive problem solving with hydraulics and electrical systems; HV experience desirable.
• Willing to travel to other wind, solar and battery sites and cover on-call duties.
• Support the development of the Maintenance team through communication and teamwork.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and welfare provisions.
• Participate in Performance Management to deliver team objectives.

The Role

BnM currently has an opening for a Wind Farm Technician to join our team. Wind farms are maintained by a small team of technicians reporting to the maintenance manager. They are responsible for achieving challenging maintenance, engineering, commercial, safety, environmental, quality and personal development targets.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

• Maintenance of wind turbines alongside OEM technicians in line with OEM procedures while ensuring maintenance plans and targets for the team in line with OEM's procedures are achieved safely and economically.
• Operating and maintenance of substations to achieve maximum plant availability, efficiency and safety in line with maintenance plans.
• Carry out fault diagnosis as required, ability to work at heights.
• Pro-active and creative in problem solving with hydraulics and electrical experience. Experience with high voltage operations is desirable.
• Willing to travel to other wind, solar and battery sites to carry out role as required and cover on call.
• Progress the ongoing development of the Maintenance team through good communication, involvement and teamwork.

• Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes:

• Electrical Craft Certificate - QQI Level 6 required. An electrical / mechanical trade qualification recognised in Ireland is required. Should possess appropriate technical qualification including a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
• 5 year's experience in Power Generation or Industrial plant experience.
• IT proficient and familiar with HV operations.
