Job summary

SMBC Aviation Capital seeks a VP Technical in Dublin to lead and shape the technical strategy within a multi-disciplinary team. You will report to the EVP Technical and influence decisions across the fleet, transition projects, and risk management while collaborating with the CCO team and airline marketing.

The role requires a strong engineering background, extensive aircraft transition experience, and the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects across time zones.

Qualifications

• Degree in aeronautical or other relevant engineering discipline or FAA/EASA licensed aircraft mechanics qualification with 5+ years’ experience in aircraft transition project management.
• Strong track record in collaboration and teamwork in a multicultural environment.
• Related airline and/or MRO experience is essential.
• Familiarity with aircraft maintenance programmes, modifications and records.
• Knowledge of lease documentation and maintenance risk exposure.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently to tight timelines within budget.
• Understanding of aviation certification requirements and regulations.
• Familiarity with AMM, IPCs, Service Bulletins and ADs.
• Willingness to travel extensively and adapt to time zones.
• Proficiency in Excel and data manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Feed into and implement the strategic objectives set by the Head of Technical.
• Own and manage technical relationships as assigned by the EVP or Head of Technical.
• Project manage aircraft redeliveries including budgeting, contractor management, customer liaison and MRO control.
• Negotiate LOIs/Leases for new and used aircraft to ensure best outcomes.
• Engage with industry participants to stay informed on technical issues affecting the fleet.
• Interface with other departments to measure risks related to aircraft ownership.
• Engage and manage consultants and ensure the contractor base has top talent.
