Job summary

ORIX Aviation Group in Dublin, Ireland, seeks a senior Powerplant leader to direct engine maintenance strategy, shop visit oversight, and risk management for the aircraft portfolio. Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of powerplant, airline, MRO, OEM, leasing, or technical asset management experience preferred.
  • Relevant university degree or technical qualification in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of engine maintenance, shop visit management, lease obligations, and aircraft records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination, and oversight of major engine maintenance events across the managed fleet.
  • Develop and challenge engine shop visit workscopes and maintenance strategies.
  • Assess shop visit proposals for technical necessity, lease alignment, and asset protection.
  • Review costs, reserve claims, and related documentation for accuracy and value.
  • Maintain engine maintenance forecasts and exposure assumptions with stakeholders.
  • Provide senior technical input to aircraft/engine transitions, including due diligence and delivery readiness.
  • Support LOIs, lease amendments, and transactions with engine-related rate reviews.
  • Identify and communicate technical risks affecting asset value and economics.
  • Develop mitigations for engine maintenance, technical, and transition risks.
  • Act as a senior technical interface with Trading, Pricing, Asset Management, etc.

Position

Lead the Powerplant function across engine maintenance strategy, shop visit oversight, cost validation, maintenance forecasting, technical risk management, and transaction support. The role is responsible for providing senior technical direction on engine-related matters, protecting asset value, and supporting commercial decisions across the aircraft and engine portfolio.

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and oversight of major engine maintenance events across the managed fleet.
  • Develop, review, and challenge engine shop visit workscopes, maintenance strategies, and operator or MRO recommendations.
  • Assess shop visit proposals to ensure technical necessity, lease alignment, cost control, and protection of asset value.
  • Review and validate shop visit costs, invoices, maintenance reserve claims, and related supporting documentation.
  • Maintain engine maintenance forecasts and exposure assumptions in coordination with airlines, MROs, OEMs, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide senior technical input to aircraft and engine transitions, including due diligence, delivery readiness, redelivery planning, and execution risk management.
  • Support LOIs, lease agreements, lease amendments, lease placements, sales, and trading transactions, including review and validation of engine-related rates and assumptions.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate technical risks that may affect asset value, maintenance exposure, lease economics, transition execution, or transaction outcomes.
  • Develop and agree practical mitigation actions for engine maintenance, technical, commercial, and transition-related risks.
  • Act as a senior technical interface with Trading, Marketing, Pricing, Asset Management, Risk, Legal, and Technical teams.
  • Maintain market awareness through engagement with operators, OEMs, MROs, appraisers, and wider industry contacts.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to more junior Powerplant or technical team members on data, maintenance, records, and transaction-related matters.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, decision-ready recommendations for commercial, asset management, and senior leadership stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of relevant powerplant, airline, MRO, OEM, leasing, or technical asset management experience preferred.
  • Relevant university degree or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of engine maintenance, shop visit management, lease-related maintenance obligations, and aircraft technical records.
  • Experience reviewing shop visit workscopes, invoices, reserve claims, engine rates, and maintenance exposure assumptions.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to assess the impact of technical matters on asset value, lease economics, and transaction execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical matters clearly to senior internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and confidence working with technical, utilisation, maintenance, and financial data.
  • Proactive, well-organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing priorities across maintenance, transactions, and portfolio management.
  • Aircraft leasing experience desirable.
