Job description

O’Shea, Bramley & Breen Vets, Wexford, Wexford Town
Wexford Veterinary Hospital, Co. Wexford
Full-time, Permanent
Salary €14.50 per hour
Start Date: February 2026
Love animals, enjoy helping people, and want a role where you’re part of a bigger team?

Wexford Veterinary Hospital is looking for a friendly, organised Veterinary Receptionist to join our mixed veterinary practice. This is a key front-of-house role within a busy, established veterinary hospital, where you’ll be the welcoming face of the practice and an essential support to both clients and clinical staff. If you enjoy variety, working with people and animals, and being part of a professional, supportive environment, this could be a great fit.

The Role & Working Pattern

This is a full-time position working 4.5 days per week, with shifts scheduled between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday as part of a shared rota. The role involves day work only, with no night work, Sundays or Bank Holidays involved, offering excellent structure and work-life balance. You’ll be part of a reception and clinical team, so reliability, communication and teamwork are key.

What the Role Involves

As a Veterinary Receptionist, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients, providing a friendly, calm and professional welcome both in person and over the phone. Your day-to-day will include managing appointments using our booking system, handling calls and emails, processing payments, completing end-of-day procedures and supporting the smooth running of the hospital. You’ll also assist with stock deliveries and light lifting, maintain a clean and organised front-of-house area, and support the wider team with general administrative tasks. Over time, you’ll build strong product and service knowledge to help confidently answer client queries.

About Wexford Veterinary Hospital

Wexford Veterinary Hospital is a busy, patient-focused hospital where high clinical standards go hand in hand with genuine care and compassion. We’re proud of our close-knit, collaborative culture, where vets, nurses, animal care assistants and support staff work side by side to deliver the very best outcomes for pets and their owners.

Our modern, well-equipped facilities support both excellent patient care and ongoing professional development, while our culture is built on respect, teamwork and shared success. You’ll be joining a friendly and experienced team of 8 vets, 6 nurses, 2 animal care assistants and 8 support team members, all committed to supporting one another and creating a positive, welcoming place to work.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, stays organised in a busy setting and genuinely cares about animal welfare. You’ll have previous experience in a receptionist or customer-facing role, be comfortable using IT systems and handling payments, and feel confident communicating with clients about appointments and fees. Strong organisation skills, attention to detail, a professional manner and a positive, team-focused attitude are essential. Experience in a veterinary, medical or healthcare setting would be an advantage, and any interest or experience in social media would be very welcome.

We offer a competitive salary along with great benefits, including:

  • Leave: Annual Leave, Birthday Leave, Paid Maternity, Paternity, Bereavement, and Sick Leave
