Job description

Be the Heart of the Practice

If you love working with people, enjoy a busy and varied day, and want to be part of a genuinely supportive team, this could be the perfect role for you. At Ark Vets Knocknacarra, our reception team plays a central role in everything we do.

Ark Vets, Knocknacarra, Galway

Full-time, Permanent

Salary €29,744 per annum

As the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, you'll help create a warm, welcoming and reassuring experience from the moment they walk through the door. This is more than just a front desk role - it's an opportunity to be part of a well-respected, forward-thinking practice where client care and teamwork go hand in hand.

A Role That Fits Around Your Life

This is a full-time position with a consistent and predictable schedule, typically working Monday to Friday with 1 in 3-4 Saturdays per month. Shifts are between 9:00am and 6:30pm, with Saturdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm. There are no Sundays, no bank holidays and no out-of-hours requirements, giving you a great work-life balance and the ability to properly switch off outside of work.

A Varied and Rewarding Front-of-House Role

Your day will be fast-paced and varied, combining client interaction with the administrative support that keeps the practice running smoothly. You'll welcome clients and their pets, manage appointments, answer calls and respond to enquiries. You'll also process payments, maintain a professional and organised reception area, and build your knowledge of our services and products so you can confidently support and guide clients. It's a role where you'll quickly become a familiar face to our regular clients and an important part of their experience with the practice.

While previous reception or veterinary experience is an advantage, it isn't essential. We're looking for someone with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and excellent people skills - full training will be provided for the right person.

Join a Team You'll Love Being Part Of

You'll be joining a well-established and collaborative team of vets, nurses and support staff who genuinely enjoy working together. With excellent facilities and a mix of first opinion and referral work, Ark Vets offers a professional yet friendly environment where everyone plays an important role.

Our Knocknacarra practice is equipped with advanced technology including CT, ultrasound, digital radiography and modern surgical facilities, giving you the opportunity to work in a high-quality clinical setting while enjoying the feel of a close-knit community practice.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, welcoming manner
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, with confidence handling payments and using IT systems
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues
  • A proactive attitude, with openness to learning and development
  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent service to clients and their pets
How We'll Support You

When you join Ark Vets, you’ll become part of a supportive team that values collaboration, continuous learning and career development. You’ll benefit from:

  • A welcoming and collaborative practice team
  • Ongoing training and development to build your skills and confidence
  • Opportunities for career progression within the practice and wider organisation
  • A positive culture focused on wellbeing, teamwork and continuous improvement
