Job description

Acorn Veterinary Clinic - Kildorrery, Kildorrery

If you're looking for a role where you can make a real difference every day, be part of a supportive team and build a rewarding career within a well-established veterinary practice, Acorn Vets could be exactly what you're looking for. Working across our Mallow and Kildorrery clinics, you'll play an important role in helping us continue to deliver outstanding care to our clients, patients and local community.

A Role That Fits Around Your Life

This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week across five days, Monday to Saturday, with shifts rostered in advance. The role involves working across our two practice locations, spending three days per week in Kildorrery and two days per week in Mallow.

With a structured rota and advance scheduling, you'll enjoy variety in your working week while being part of a close-knit and supportive team across both sites.

A Varied and Rewarding Front-of-House Role

Your day will be fast-paced and varied, combining client interaction with the administrative support that keeps the practice running smoothly. You'll welcome clients and their pets, manage appointments, answer calls and respond to enquiries.

You'll also process payments, maintain a professional and organised reception area, and build your knowledge of our services and products so you can confidently support and guide clients. It's a role where you'll quickly become a familiar face to our regular clients and an important part of their experience with the practice.

An interest in developing your knowledge within the veterinary profession is important. The successful applicant will either already hold the HPRA Responsible Person (RP) qualification or be willing to undertake and successfully complete the course as part of their employment. Full support will be provided for candidates who need to obtain the qualification.

While previous reception or veterinary experience is an advantage, it isn't essential. We're looking for someone with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and excellent people skills – full training will be provided for the right person.

Join a Team You'll Love Being Part Of

You'll be joining a friendly and collaborative team of vets, nurses and support staff who genuinely enjoy working together. At Acorn Vets, we're proud to have been caring for animals and supporting local pet owners and farming communities across North Cork for many years. From beloved family pets to livestock, our team is passionate about delivering exceptional veterinary care and outstanding client service.

Working across both our Mallow and Kildorrery clinics, you'll become part of a practice that combines modern veterinary care with a strong community focus. We understand that visiting the vet can be a stressful experience for both pets and their owners, and we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, compassionate environment where every client feels supported.

As part of our team, you'll work alongside experienced veterinary professionals and support colleagues who are committed to providing the highest standards of care. Acorn Vets recently joined the IVC Evidensia network, providing access to enhanced support, development opportunities and resources while maintaining the same trusted local practice and familiar team that our clients know and value.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, welcoming manner
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, with confidence handling payments and using IT systems
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues
  • A proactive attitude, with openness to learning and development
  • Hold the HPRA Responsible Person (RP) qualification, or be willing to undertake and successfully complete the course
  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent service to clients and their pets
  • Due to the nature of the role, a full valid Irish driver license is required to travel between sites
