Job summary

Apleona is seeking a Utilities Technician for its pharma site in Sligo. The role involves gaining detailed knowledge of site assets, supporting commissioning, handovers, and ongoing maintenance, and hosting vendors on-site.

You will review maintenance records, create MAXIMO work orders, and perform weekly utility checks while collaborating with suppliers to meet statutory and best-practice requirements. The position requires energy and KPI-focused performance and a willingness to work overtime.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or building services.
• Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience.
• Strong IT and report writing skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Asset management experience (planned and reactive maintenance, BMS, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Gain detailed knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, life safety, and other assets installed across the site.
• Attend and be a strong presence for the onsite facilities team and client at commissions and handovers, and for PPMs when completed.
• Host and assist vendors on-site and ensure they understand their full scope of work.
• Review maintenance records and highlight concerns through proper channels.
• Create MAXIMO work orders for reactive and follow-on works, upload reports, and close for area owner review.
• Conduct weekly Utility Checks (e.g., VSD, Sprinkler, UPS, Foam suppression).
• Develop relationships with maintenance suppliers to ensure compliance with recommendations, best practices, and statutory requirements from day one.
• Escalate concerns to the Senior Utilities engineer and Engineering Services Manager when unresolved locally.
• Coordinate with specialists and onsite trades to complete maintenance records and file on system.
• Work as part of a team with on-site and client staff and support others when dealing with clients.
• Assist with other projects within the onsite team as necessary.
• Promote energy efficiency culture and meet sustainability targets as required.
• Be flexible to overtime and ensure KPI targets set by site lead are met.

At Apleona, we are always on the lookout for talented and dynamic individuals to join our team. Currently, we are recruiting for a Utilities Technician at our Pharma site in Sligo

Shift Pattern Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16;30 Friday 08:00 - 15:30

Main duties and responsibilities

• Gain detailed knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, life safety, and other assets that are installed across the site.
• Be in attendance and be a strong presence on behalf of the onsite facilities team and our client at all commission and handover from small-scale projects, follow-on works, and PPMs once completed.
• Hosting and assisting vendors on-site and ensuring they understand their full scope of work before work proceeds.
• Review all maintenance records and highlight any concerns or issues identified through the correct channels.
• Creating MAXIMO WO for reactive and follow-on works, uploading the required reports, and closing out for area owner review.
• Weekly Utility Checks (E.G VSD, Sprinkler, UPS, Foam suppression etc)
• Develop relationships with key maintenance suppliers to ensure that manufacturers’ recommendations, best industry practices, and statutory requirements are complied with from day one
• Escalate any concerns that cannot be resolved locally to the Senior Utilities engineer and the Engineering Services Manager.
• Engage with all the required specialist contractors and onsite trades personnel to ensure that all maintenance records are completed in full and on schedule, and accurately filed on the system.
• Review all maintenance records and highlight any concerns or issues identified through the correct channels and if necessary, by escalating to the Apleona Site lead.
• Work as part of a team with other internal and client staff and always support other team members when dealing with clients.
• Help with other projects within the onsite team as necessary.
• Promote culture and awareness within the team on-site in relation to sustainability and energy efficiency targets/goals where required.
• Flexibility and availability to work overtime.
• Ensure KPI set out by the site lead is met
