Job summary

Musgrave is seeking a Line Manager to join the transport team at our depot. You will support the Regional Transport Manager by organising and managing elements of the transport function to meet depot targets and deliver excellent service to our retailers and customers.

You will lead and develop a high-performing transport team, ensure safety and compliance, optimise delivery schedules, and drive continuous improvement across operations, with a focus on cost efficiency and KPI targets.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, people management and customer service skills.
• Experience in a logistics business which has multiple weekly deliveries.
• Experience of managing in a busy transport department in a high volume/turnover business.
• Good organisational and administration skills with the ability to solve problems in a fast-moving environment.
• High level of computer literacy and ability to interpret and analyse data.
• Thorough knowledge of distribution operations including H&S and HACCP etc.
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Legislation.
• Customer focused and driven.
• The ideal candidate should be a team player, be flexible and have the ability to maintain focused whilst under pressure.
• Have the ability to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and have a consistent work methodology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of the transport operation to maintain service levels within budget and KPI targets.
• Promote safety, health and welfare at work of all employees.
• Motivate and engage the transport team to deliver a best-in-class service.
• Deal with drivers, suppliers and stores on queries.
• Support the Regional Transport Manager with development and implementation of an effective transport function.
• Implement and operate the Stratum transport software system.
• Manage drivers and operations to create high performing teams and a strong culture.
• Monitor KPI performance and take corrective action where needed.
• Ensure compliance with Road Transport legislation and safety standards.
