Job summary

JJ Kavanagh, in the Dublin & South East region, seeks a Transport Coordinator to support the Transport Manager and Operations team in delivering excellent customer experience across scheduled services, private hires, and tours.

The role focuses on rostering, real-time transport monitoring, vehicle allocation, depot movements, and acting as the first point of contact for drivers, with on-going training provided.

Qualifications

• Be organised and focused with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Attention to detail with strong IT capability and MS Office as a minimum.
• Direct and develop teams/individuals to reach tight deadlines and KPIs.
• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
• Ability to work under pressure with practical problem-solving.
• Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building with drivers and management.
• Experience in planning in road transport industry; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Rostering of drivers for service work and private hires, ensuring adherence to laws, regulations and company policies.
• Monitor transport systems in real time and ensure scheduled services and private hires run as planned with corrective action when needed.
• Allocate company vehicles to Drivers/Jobs as required.
• Move vehicles between depots to ensure maintenance is carried out timely.
• Be the first point of contact for Drivers and facilitate communication between Operations Office and Drivers.
• Respond proactively to changing situations and provide practical solutions.

Your role

As Transport Coordinator, you will be working closely with the Transport Manager and the Transport Operations team to assist in delivering the best customer experience in all areas of our operation, such as regular scheduled services, private coach hires, and tours.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Rostering of drivers for service work and private hires, ensuring adherence to the current law and regulations as well as the Company’s Policies.
• Ensure the transport systems are monitored in real time and ensure all scheduled services and private hire jobs are operating as planned and taking immediate corrective action if and when required.
• Allocation of company vehicles to Drivers/Jobs when and where required.
• Movements of vehicles between depots to ensure all scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance works are carried out in an appropriate time frame.
• Being the first point of contact for our Drivers when they require guidance or assistance and facilitating communication between the Transport Operations Office and the Team of Drivers.
• Responding proactively to changing situations and providing solutions to challenges that arise.

• Be able to demonstrate clear ability to direct and develop teams/individuals to reach tight deadlines and KPIs.
• Be very comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
• Have the ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate a practical approach to problem-solving.
• Possess strong interpersonal communication skills and build positive relationships with Drivers and Management.
• Have suitable experience in planning in the road transport industry. This would be a distinct advantage; however, full on-the-job training will be provided.
