Jones Engineering in Cork seeks a Transmission & Distribution focused Civil Engineer to deliver and support renewable energy projects onsite. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to progress design, assessments, and coordination across civil and electrical elements.

The role provides opportunities to develop skills towards Chartered Engineer status while contributing to safe, compliant project execution and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience in renewable energy project delivery, including wind and solar developments with medium-voltage substations.
• Minimum 3–5 years' site-based construction experience.

Responsibilities

Job Description

As a Civil Engineer, with a focus on Transmission & Distribution, you will play a pivotal role in project implementation and execution. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to deliver the completion of projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting technical assessments, preparing reports, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring project milestones are achieved.

This role will provide exposure to a wide range of expertise relating to the civil engineering, electrical engineering and construction sector. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge on a pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer as their knowledge and responsibilities grow and evolve.

Your Responsibilities will include:

• Reporting to the Project Manager on project progress, risk, and issues.
• Analyse supplier / sub-contractor information for alignment with design specifications.
• Review and understand technical drawings and project specifications.
• Design reviews, validate equipment and systems.
• Work closely with electrical designers to ensure civil aspects meet electrical equipment requirements.
• Complete technical submittals, RFIs, reports and trackers.
• Analysis of all design documentation and identification of any scope gaps.
• Coordinate, direct and audit civil engineering sub-contractors.
• Assist with the Production of Civil & Structural drawings using 2D and 3D software, and input to BIM requirements on relevant projects as required.
• Manage civil design logs
• Assistance with Tendering
• Review quality on site - walking down systems to ensure compliance with project team.

Skills And Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience in the construction and delivery of renewable energy projects, including wind and solar developments. This must include onsite involvement with 38kV, 110kV, and 220kV medium-voltage substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid connections including ground works, cut / fill excavations, road openings, and utility coordination.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar site-based construction role is essential.
• Excellent delegation and organisational skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor a cross-functional team essential.
• Ability to work and collaborate with the wider project team essential.
• Strong electrical engineering knowledge base.
• Strong communications skills, both written and oral required.
