Job summary

Defence Forces in Ireland offers a Trainee Chef role, joining as General Service Recruit with twelve weeks of Recruit Training followed by twelve weeks of 2-3 Star training and onward professional chef training at the Defence Forces School of Catering in McKee Barracks, Dublin. You will develop practical culinary skills and earn a QQI Level 5 Major Award while serving the State.

During training you receive full pay, along with free meals and accommodation in barracks, plus access to medical care

Qualifications

• Teamwork and professional conduct expected across training and service.
• Core military and culinary skills will be developed through staged training.
• Ability to work in a disciplined, fast-paced environment while serving the Defence Forces.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for Defence Forces personnel.
• Undergo Recruit Training and 2-3 Star training as part of the culinary career path.
• Learn and apply a wide range of culinary skills in the Defence Forces School of Catering.
