Job summary

eBay’s Traffic Engineering team builds and manages platforms that handle global site traffic, deploying resilient systems at the edge with service mesh capabilities. You will design and implement traffic solutions, improve observability, and drive collaboration across engineering teams to meet business needs.

The role emphasizes hands-on development in C++ and Go, experience with Kubernetes, and contribution to open-source projects, with opportunities to push boundaries in modern networking

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud networking and traffic management, incl TCP/IP, TLS/SSL, HTTP.
• Strong C++ and Go skills; Java knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes and observability practices.
• Familiarity with Envoy and large-scale high-traffic environments.
• Agile collaboration across engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain traffic management solutions, optimizing PoPs, caching, and protocols.
• Build high-performance apps in C++ and Go and deploy scalable distributed systems with Kubernetes.
• Improve observability by monitoring performance, health, and security threats.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate networking solutions.
• Contribute to open-source projects and explore new technologies.
• Lead smaller projects and share advanced engineering practices.
• Stay current with networking tech, security and software development.
