Job summary

Roughan & O'Donovan is seeking a Chartered-Engineer-level railways professional to contribute across light rail, heavy rail and asset management projects in Ireland. The role requires a strong track alignment background, proficiency with related software, and a commitment to high-quality design outputs while meeting tight schedules.

The candidate should hold an honours degree in railway or civil/structural engineering and possess 3–7 years post-qualification experience.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in railway or civil/structural engineering (minimum Level 9).
• 3–7 years post-qualification experience in design and implementation.
• Strong design skills with proficiency in track alignment design and related software.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality outputs.
• Fluency in spoken and written English; Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status.

Responsibilities

• Work across light rail, heavy rail and railway asset management projects.
• Design and implement track alignment and permanent way elements.
• Inspect track conditions and perform assessments as required.
• Manage projects in a busy environment with tight deadlines.
