Job summary

UPMC Whitfield Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Theatre/Peri-Operative team. You will work across operating and endoscopy suites, delivering evidence-based patient care within a multidisciplinary team in Waterford.

The role requires NMBI registration, BLS, and theatre experience. You will participate in anaesthetics, scrub, circulating, PACU and endoscopy duties, while upholding professional standards and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Be a Registered Nurse in the general division of the Register of Nurses (NMBI).
• Basic Life Support Training is required.
• Theatre Nursing experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Infection Control, Quality & Risk Management, Health & Safety.
• Adherence to professional guidelines and codes of conduct.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in anaesthetics, scrub, and circulating, PACU or endoscopy duties as required.
• Prepare equipment and instruments for endoscopy and assist in the Endoscopy Unit operations.
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure patient safety within the theatre.
• Support education and development of other staff in the department.
• Coordinate ward management in the absence of senior clinicians and mentor junior staff.
