Job summary

UPMC Whitfield Hospital in Waterford is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Theatre to join the multidisciplinary operating team. The post holder will provide evidence‑based nursing care within the theatre and endoscopy settings, supporting anaesthetics, scrub and circulating roles as required.

The successful candidate will be registered with the NMBI, hold Basic Life Support, and ideally a Theatre Qualification, with a commitment to high professional standards and patient safety within a busy

Qualifications

• Be a Registered Nurse in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI
• Basic Life Support Training completed
• Theatre Qualification in nursing is desirable

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgery
• Assist consultant surgeons in all surgical procedures
• Maintain standards of nursing care in pre-operative and post-operative planning, implementation and patient care
• Prepare the operating room for all elective scheduled procedures
• Maintain patient confidentiality and high professional standards
