Job summary

UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for our Theatre department. The role is permanent with duties spanning patient privacy, mobility assistance, theatre setup, and collaboration with theatre staff and clinicians.

Fetac Level 5 qualification is required or similar, with desirable prior caring experience and the ability to meet the physical demands of the role. The salary scale is €36,069 to €42,177 for a 39-hour week, with incremental progression.

Qualifications

• Fetac Level 5 Qualification or similar relevant required.
• Previous experience of working in a caring profession is desirable.
• Ability to undertake the physical demands of the role.
• Be free from any defect or disease which would render him/her unsuitable to hold office and be in a state of health as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
• Be of good character.

Responsibilities

• Respect the privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out planned care duties.
• Present for duty in a professional manner, punctually and correctly dressed according to Theatre policy.
• Help with patient mobility by accompanying patients when walking.
• Assist Consultants as leg holder in Theatre for procedures.
• Assist with moving and positioning patients under the direction of the Anaesthetist and nursing staff.
• Moving patients between theatre table, beds, trolley’s using sliding roll board with support from the theatre staff, following the manual handling assessment of individual patients.
• Communicate and pass on relevant information to the ward team.
• Attend departmental and team meetings.
• Attend mandatory training e.g. CPR, Patient Moving & Manual Handling, Fire Training etc.
• Dispose of bodily fluids; tissue and clinical waste according to training and in line with trust policy on a daily basis.

Education
