Job summary

UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Recovery department within the Theatre. This permanent full-time role reports to the CNM 1, Recovery/Theatre Manager and the Director of Nursing, with duties across pre- and post-operative care and theatre procedures.

The ideal candidate holds current General Nurse registration, at least 4 years post-registration experience (3 in theatre/recovery), and strong communication and team leadership skills. Garda Vetting is required.

Qualifications

• Be a Registered General Nurse and registered with An Bord Altranais on the live register.
• Have a minimum of 4 years post-registration experience; with at least 3 years in theatre/recovery.
• Orthopaedic experience desirable but not necessary.
• Opportunity to train in specialist disciplines such as Orthopaedics.
• Demonstrate experience managing a team of nurses and ideally in an orthopaedic facility.
• Be computer literate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and manage multiple issues with attention to detail.
• Identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions.
• Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient centred care to a high standard in theatre/recovery.
• Maintain awareness of patient primacy in all clinic activities.
• Foster accountability, teamwork and healthy working relationships.
• Be accountable for nursing service in pre- and post-operative areas.
• Communicate with relatives and visitors as required.
• Set and monitor standards; participate in accreditation and CQI.
• Keep Director of Nursing informed of issues; liaise on consumables and staff changes.
• Coordinate with nursing leadership to ensure continuity of care and safe transfers.
• Ensure safety, infection control, and audit processes are followed.
• Contribute to training, policy adherence and quality improvement.
