Job summary

Mercor is seeking PDF annotation and transcription experts who can work remotely on Telugu documents with multimodal elements for AI research labs. Role involves sourcing Telugu PDFs, annotating structure, transcribing content in Telugu script (including handwriting), and validating work through peer reviews.

This is a contract position paying $13/hour. Applicants should have native Telugu fluency, strong attention to detail, and experience with document annotation or transcription.

Responsibilities

• Flag illegible regions and capture page metadata (language, document type, dimensions).
• Review a colleague's work and contribute to end-to-end quality checks.

Position: PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Telugu
Type: Contract
Compensation: $13/hour

Role Responsibilities

Source documents by finding publicly accessible Telugu PDFs with multimodal elements. Record the source of each document. Annotate structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region of the page. Assign each a component type and reading-order index. Record relationships by linking each region to its parent component, such as a figure or table. Transcribe text faithfully in Telugu script , including handwritten content. Flag any illegible regions. Capture page metadata including language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting. Review a colleague's work thoroughly. Experienced annotators take on end-to-end reviews.

Qualifications

Must-Have

Native fluency in Telugu , including full command of the script. Experience with document annotation, transcription, or related fields. Attention to detail with character-level accuracy. Systematic approach to applying taxonomy across pages. Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.

Preferred

Experience with regional-language AI data annotation or bilingual evaluation. Skills in transcription, localization, and OCR correction . Knowledge of Unicode normalization and Telugu input methods.
