Job summary

General Paints Group (GPG) seeks a Technologist to join the Laboratory team. You will contribute to product development, technical research, quality improvement and innovation within a thriving Irish manufacturing environment.

You will report to the Laboratory Manager and collaborate with manufacturing, sales, customer service and external suppliers to develop coatings and optimize formulations. A proactive, independent yet collaborative approach is essential for success.

Qualifications

• A technical qualification (Diploma or Degree) or at least 3 years' relevant industry experience.
• Formulation experience is desirable.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• A self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Technologist and Laboratory Manager in delivering technical projects.
• Research and evaluate new raw materials and technologies.
• Assist in the development and optimisation of paint and coating formulations.
• Conduct laboratory testing and product evaluations.
• Support product scale-up and production trials.
• Perform quality control testing on production batches.
• Investigate opportunities to improve sustainability, material efficiency, and environmental performance.
• Build strong technical relationships with suppliers.
• Support manufacturing and customer teams in resolving technical issues.
• Contribute to innovation initiatives and industry networking opportunities.
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Help drive GPG's sustainability and B Corp objectives.
