Job summary

Edwards & Pearce is recruiting a Technical Product Manager for a family-run LED lighting company. You will lead the technical department, manage two engineers, and ensure products are specified, tested, documented and delivered on time.

The role focuses on product delivery, compliance and quality, working with overseas suppliers to resolve issues and maintain documentation and certifications. A commercially aware, organised professional is sought to own the department.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical product, product engineering, quality, compliance or product development roles.
• Good practical electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Experience managing products from overseas manufacturers, ideally in Asia.
• Experience supervising a small technical team.
• Knowledge of product testing, compliance, certification and technical documentation.
• Strong organisational and project-management skills.
• Ability to manage several product projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Attention to detail without over-engineering solutions.
• Strong communication with suppliers and internal teams.
• Commercial awareness and cost/time-to-market importance.

Responsibilities

• Manage workload of two engineers and prioritise tasks.
• Ensure deadlines and product-ready targets are met.
• Coordinate approval and introduction of new LED products.
• Work with overseas suppliers to resolve technical and documentation issues.
• Ensure all product documentation is complete and accurate.
• Oversee datasheets, specifications, installation instructions and technical content.
• Ensure testing, certification and compliance documentation are in place.
• Coordinate product safety reviews and risk assessments.
• Review samples to ensure quality standards.
• Oversee packaging design, labelling and data.
• Identify and resolve potential technical or quality issues before launch.
• Collaborate with Head of Product, purchasing, sales, marketing and supply chain.
• Improve departmental processes, controls and accountability.
• Provide clear, timely support to the wider business.
