Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Drug Product Technical Manager in Ireland to lead a small technical team and oversee manufacturing, transfers and new product introductions. You will partner across functions to ensure timely delivery from early project work through to commercial production.

The role combines leadership with hands-on technical involvement, driving process performance, efficiency and site growth in a GMP environment.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Drug Product Technical Manager to join a growing pharmaceutical operation in Ireland, as the organisation continues to expand its product pipeline and manufacturing capabilities.

This is a key leadership position within Technical Operations, offering the opportunity to lead and develop a team of approximately six technical professionals while providing technical oversight across commercial manufacturing, new product introductions and technical transfers. You will play a pivotal role in bringing new products into manufacturing, strengthening process performance and ensuring successful delivery from initial project activities through to commercial production.

Combining people leadership with hands-on technical involvement and cross-functional collaboration, this role offers the scope to make a tangible impact on both team performance and site growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of technical professionals, taking ownership of performance management, capability development and succession planning.

• Provide technical oversight for a portfolio of commercial products and new product introductions, supporting complex drug product manufacturing processes.

• Lead technical transfers, process validation and qualification activities, ensuring successful introduction of new products into manufacturing.

• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Development and other stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and deliver project milestones.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process robustness, yield, cycle times and manufacturing efficiency.

• Support process feasibility assessments, project planning, capital initiatives and future product introduction strategies.

What You'll Bring

• Proven people leadership experience, including formal line management and responsibility for multiple direct reports.

• Strong Drug Product manufacturing experience within a GMP pharmaceutical environment.

• Ideally, experience in Oral Solid Dose (OSD) manufacturing, with exposure to processes such as granulation, milling, blending, tableting, encapsulation and coating.

• Experience supporting technical transfers, validation, new product introductions and commercial manufacturing operations.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and deliver results in a complex manufacturing environment.

• A track record of developing people, solving technical problems and driving process improvement.

• A relevant degree in a scientific or technical discipline.
