Job summary

Cairn is seeking a Technical Manager in Ireland to lead the design and technical aspects of projects, coordinating information from planning through to completion. You will report to the Senior Technical Manager and, in time, oversee a D&B Coordinator and Document Controller.

You will review designs with the Planning Team for buildability and value engineering. The role requires a degree in Architecture or equivalent with 5+ years post-qualification experience in mixed-use schemes, strong

Qualifications

• Degree / Higher Diploma in Architecture or equivalent.
• 5+ years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in mixed-use residential-led schemes, preferably high-rise.
• Excellent knowledge of latest building regulation and certification standards.

Responsibilities

• Review design post planning achieved and pre-commencement on site to achieve best standard prior to tendering.
• Agree initial design deliverables and programme with department heads and MD for the design team.
• Adopt a cost-conscious approach to minimise costs and maximise value.
• Ensure all aspects of building design are fully coordinated (structure, M&E, facades, internal specs, service strategies).
• Assist in developing and managing the Design Programme as part of the Master Development Programme.
• Lead on evaluating off-site production/alternative construction methods.
• Lead the design optimisation process to deliver design excellence across the scheme.
• Manage external consultants and specialist subcontractors with Design Responsibilities and monitor performance.
• Assist in appointing external consultants and manage their performance.
• Produce and manage scopes of works, appointment documents, technical programmes, warranties, references and fee proposals.
• Translate planning scheme into efficient commercial solutions.
• Oversee technical submittals and shop drawings with design responsibility.
• Manage Design Development during Procurement to ensure timely co-ordination.
• Chair Design Team meetings and workshops to champion Cairn product quality and legacy.
• Keep informed on innovative products, practices, and build methods.
