Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a skilled technical writer to join our Technical Writing team in Ireland. You will work closely with manufacturing teams in Dublin, onsite up to four days a week, and create content in DITA XML and CMS environments.

You will develop technical illustrations, support DocOps processes, and help manage multiple program releases. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of technical writing experience and a background in English, journalism, or technical communications.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Educational background in English, Journalism, Technical Communications, Languages, Software & Hardware Engineering, Multimedia or Science.
  • Experience with topic-based writing, preferably DITA xml.
  • Technical illustration skills: Photoshop and Illustrator or similar.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and support multiple program releases.
  • Mentoring experience. Sharing knowledge with others is important.
  • Document control and revisioning in content management or version control systems.
  • Technically skilled. Knowledge of scripting languages, APIs, SQL is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with manufacturing teams based in Dublin; candidates will be onsite up to 4 days per week.
  • Creating content for a business unit supporting program releases under the guidance of more senior team members.
  • Creating content in DITA XML and content management systems.
  • Creating technical illustrations.
  • Providing DocOps support and opportunity to assist one process teams.
