Job summary

Corlann in Galway West region seeks a Permanent Full-Time Team Leader for Day Services. The role focuses on person-centred leadership, service delivery, and staff supervision in partnership with individuals and their families.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years working with intellectual disabilities, CORU registration or eligibility, and strong planning skills. A full driving licence and access to a car are essential.

Qualifications

  • A relevant 3rd level qualification in Social Care or Health Sector and registration with CORU or eligibility under Section 91 route.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with people with intellectual disability. Behavioural challenges experience desirable.
  • Experience in goal setting and programme implementation is essential.
  • Experience in Day Services or Creative Arts is an advantage.
  • Supervisory/leadership experience is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, management and planning skills; ability to set goals and review progress.
  • Must have driving licence and access to own car.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operation of the service and provide local leadership.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a person-centred way.
  • Lead staff teams and ensure alignment with Personal Outcome Measures.
  • Participate in service development and ensure compliance with current policy and legislation.

The BEO Services is a community based, person centred service focussing on the needs and abilities of adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community. We continually review the way in which we support people in line with best practice internationally. Our focus going forward is to form a relationship/partnership with individuals and their family, supporting them to plan their own service. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships. We wish to recruit innovative, creative, visionary people who will relish the opportunity to assist in implementing this vision.

The Role

The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service and will provide leadership and supervision at a local level, ensuring the service delivered is person centred.

It is the Team Leader’s responsibility to ensure that the life of each person reflects the organisation’s core values and the personal outcome measures.

The successful candidate will initially be assigned to a specific day service; however this work location is subject to change in accordance with service needs.

Reporting/Responsible To

Service Coordinator/Area manager

Qualifications/Experience/Skills
  • A relevant 3rd level qualification in the Social Care or Health Sector ie Social Care qualification and be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board - CORU or Be eligible under the Section 91 (existing practitioner) route for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board -CORU (evidence of application status is necessary)
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. Experience of behaviours that challenge is desirable.
  • Experience in goal setting and programme implementation is essential.
  • Experience working in Day Services or Creative Arts is an advantage
  • Supervisory and leadership experience is an advantage
  • An understanding that the person using services is responsible for directing his/her services and work in partnership with them.
  • An understanding of the New Directions model of day support services, as developed by the HSE.
  • The successful candidate must have experience of managing and supervising a staff team and be up to date with current policy and legislation relevant to intellectual disability services.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, management and planning skills as well as the ability to set goals, implement and review.
  • Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.
  • The successful candidate will have evidence of and be committed to Continued Professional and Personal Development.
  • A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement.
Working Hours

78 hours a fortnight rostered flexibly on a 5 day duty roster.

The Team leader will work as a frontline member of the team with protected time to carry out specific team leader duties.

An On Call commitment may be required and flexibility around this will be expected in order to meet service needs.

Corlann’s model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

  • 23 days pro annum pro rata
Remuneration
  • Department of Health Social Care Leader salary scale as at 01/06/2026 apply: €57,484 x6 increments – €67,130 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).
Tenure
  • This position is permanent full-time and pensionable
Probation
  • A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
