Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or related discipline; master's is a plus.
  • Extensive senior-level mobility advisory experience with transport policy, sustainable mobility, decarbonisation.
  • Proven leadership in advisory teams within consulting, public-sector, or multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Strong client engagement and ability to present to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Shape strategic direction for the Strategic Consulting team across local, national, and European markets.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal advisory role, responsible for leading a high-performing team, delivering strategic consulting to clients, and helping to shape the future of sustainable mobility across Ireland and Europe.

The team based in our Dublin office delivers strategic advisory services to clients across Ireland and Europe. The team brings together expertise in strategy, planning, research, and advisory, with a core focus on supporting clients to advance the integration of land use and transport, sustainable mobility outcomes and the transition to low‑carbon travel.

As Team Lead - Strategic Transport & Mobility Consulting at Arup, you will:
  • Lead, develop and grow a diverse team of around five consultants, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
  • Guide the strategic direction for our Strategic Consulting team, aligning our offer with Arup’s vision, evolving transport challenges, and client needs across local, national, and European markets
  • Oversee the delivery of high-impact advisory projects across transport policy, strategy, sustainable mobility, decarbonisation, transport innovation, and integrated land use and transport planning
  • Build trusted relationships and grow the business, engaging with clients, partners, stakeholders, and colleagues to identify and secure new opportunities
  • Represent Arup as a thought leader in sustainable mobility advisory, contributing to industry forums, strengthening our market reputation, and championing high-quality project delivery

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or a related discipline / equivalent experience (master’s degree is a plus)
  • Extensive senior‑level experience in mobility advisory, transport policy, sustainable mobility, decarbonisation strategies, or integrated land use and transport planning
  • Proven leadership experience, including developing, mentoring, and managing advisory teams in a consulting, public‑sector, or multidisciplinary project environment
  • Strong track record in client engagement and strategic advisory delivery, with experience working with public and/or private sector clients and presenting confidently to senior stakeholders
  • Familiarity with national and European transport frameworks, funding programmes, digital tools, or data‑driven decision‑making is an advantage
  • Excellent communication in English, including producing high‑quality reports and presentations
