Job summary

Arup in Dublin is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for high‑profile projects. You will guide a team from concept through commissioning, delivering innovative, sustainable solutions aligned with net-zero principles.

Prospective candidates should have 12–15 years post‑qualification experience, with Data Centre design expertise and familiarity with the Irish (or UK) market.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12-15 years of post-qualification design experience, most of which within a consultancy.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of Data Centre Electrical Systems.
  • Experience in the Irish market (or in the UK).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for projects from concept through detailed design, installation and commissioning.
  • Develop innovative, sustainable electrical solutions incorporating net-zero carbon principles.
  • Collaborate with architects, clients and other specialists for seamless project integration.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members to foster learning and growth.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure successful delivery.

The Opportunity

Lead a team of passionate engineers and help us revolutionize sustainable building design in a thriving Dublin market. Drive innovation in low-carbon Data Centre services and contribute to projects that directly address climate change challenges. As an Associate Electrical Engineer at Arup, you will:
  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for projects (science, industry, technology, etc.) from initial concept through detailed design, installation and commissioning.
  • Develop innovative and sustainable electrical solutions, incorporating net-zero carbon principles, embodied carbon analysis, and circular economy strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, clients, and other specialists, to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring successful project completion.

  • Minimum 12-15 years of post-qualification design experience, most of which within a consultancy environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of Data Centre Electrical System.

  • Chartered Engineer status (or near chartered) with a proven track record in delivering innovative electrical engineering solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations (including BCAR) and relevant industry standards.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
