Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an intern in Ireland to work on Red Hat Enterprise Linux security vulnerabilities, backport fixes, and test framework development. You will join a global engineering team and collaborate with QA, release, and security teams to deliver fixes and improvements.

You will gain hands-on experience with Linux, C/C++, Bash, Python, and Git while contributing to open-source software projects in a structured internship lasting January to August 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship.
• Must be able to join full time from January till August 2027.
• Working knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Interest in open-source software and development.
• Familiarity with Git, cherry-picking, merging, and rebasing.
• Experience with Linux, C/C++ and scripting (Bash/Python) is a plus.

• Interest in learning new technologies and problem-solving skills
• Open-source contributions to upstream Linux projects or interaction with the open-source community are a plus
• Familiarity with kernel internals, including structure and subsystems, is a plus
• Familiarity with userspace low-level internals such as syscalls and ioctl is a plus
• Experience building code from source and debugging compilation failures, mainly with C code, is a plus
