Location: Misneach Supported Living Service, Trim, Co Meath

GOR: Due to a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) this role is only open to female applicants.

Hours: Full time, Part Time hours and relief hours are available with this role. Full-time hours are based on 37.5 hours FTE. Part-time roles will be subject to pro rata. Salary for Relief role is €15.03 up to €22.19 per hour.

You'll get to know the person you're supporting properly: their goals, their routines, what independence looks like for them. From there, you'll support them with everything from daily living skills and personal care, to getting out into their community, keeping in touch with the people who matter to them, and speaking up for themselves.

About The Role

Every day looks a little different, because every person you support is different too.
As a Support Worker, you'll form a positive relationship with the person you support, always maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with them and their families. You'll help them look after their home, manage their money and medication as independently as possible, and get the right support from other services when they need it, whether that's a GP, a social worker, or an advocate.
You'll support people to stay safe and healthy in every part of their life, including personal care where it's needed, always treating people with dignity and respect. You'll help them get out into their community, stay connected to the people who matter to them, and speak up for themselves, seeking advocacy support where it's needed rather than deciding things for them.
You'll also act as a role model for other staff and volunteers, sharing what you learn and helping new colleagues find their feet. Accurate record keeping (incidents, risk assessments, communication logs) is part of the job too, using our usual digital systems.

Required Criteria

• Minimum 6 months experience providing paid or voluntary care or support for someone.
• Full, valid IRL/UK/EU/EEA driving licence or an ability to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post.

Desired Criteria

• Previous experience of supporting someone with autism
• Recognised Level 5 award relevant to the role
• Relevant third level qualification at degree level i.e. social work, psychology, and/or allied health.
• Proficiency in using standard office IT applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Post-graduate qualification relevant to the role
