Job summary

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd is seeking a Supplier and Quality Development Engineer to strengthen the Quality Department in Ireland. You will verify supplier quality to Liebherr standards, lead audits, and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.

The role requires strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills, with experience in manufacturing environments. A structured, methodical approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • A third level qualification in quality management or engineering, or proven related experience.
  • Experience in an office and steel fabrication/electromechanical assembly environment.
  • 2+ years in a similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary quality contact for suppliers and managers.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Production and Engineering to ensure supplier process capability.
  • Conduct supplier validation audits and lead supplier approval.
  • Use SCARs and 8D to drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and Lean activities.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance using KPIs.
  • Deliver quality awareness training.
  • Undertake special projects as required.

Job description

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Supplier and Quality Development Engineer to join our Quality Department. This role will report directly to the Quality Manager, or his/her delegate. In line with increasing volumes, the complexity of the supply base has increased in recent years. In support of the Quality Assurance Manager, the QA Supplier Engineer will be responsible for delivering on all aspects of the Supplier Quality Assurance function and be responsible for verifying quality standards in accordance with demanding Liebherr requirements. The QA Supplier Engineer will resolve supplier quality problems using disciplined cross-functional problem-solving methods, be cost aware, conduct developmental audits as required, and lead continuous improvement projects. They will work in a structured way to develop and implement best practices across the supply base emphasising defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste. Key Elements of the Role: Acts as the primary quality point of contact for both suppliers and managers in LCC. Work with the Purchasing, Production and Engineering (Design and Process Engineers) teams to define process parameters to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product requirements. Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and be able to perform moderate to advanced arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. Carry out supplier validation audits and lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing / technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks. Use the appropriate tools (e.g., SCAR's, 8D) to facilitate root cause analysis and verify timely corrective actions for supplier quality issues. Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify cost recovery and process improvement opportunities within the supply chain. Promote the use of continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, 5S, Visual Workplace, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and other creative tools to drive and support quality development within the organization. Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues. Support the Quality Assurance Manager to monitor and report on supplier quality performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system. Deliver training regarding quality awareness. Undertake special projects as required and contribute to continuous improvement activities. Any other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Experience

A third level qualification in quality management, engineering or proven work experience in a similar role. Experience working in an office and steel fabrication / electromechanical assembly environment. More than 2 years' experience in a similar role. Process improvement experience. Experience of team management and dynamics. Effective communicator. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Have a careful, conscientious, and methodical approach. Willingness to self-learn and improve. Excellent project management skills. #LCC
