Job summary

PE Global is recruiting an experienced Senior Structural Technician/Designer for Cork-based projects in the pharmaceutical, life sciences and manufacturing sectors. You will produce and coordinate detailed structural drawings and BIM models, working with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-value projects.

Ideal candidates will have strong Revit and AutoCAD skills, Irish Building Regulations knowledge, and a track record of delivering complex packages on time.

Qualifications

• Relevant civil/structural engineering qualification.
• Experience as Structural Technician or Senior BIM Technician in a consultancy.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences or manufacturing sectors in Ireland.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for structural modelling and detailing.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages and meet deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and Eurocodes.

PE Global Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Structural Technician / Designer to join a well-established and highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Cork.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Technician or Designer to join a growing engineering team delivering complex, high-value projects across the Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Manufacturing and Industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of structural engineering packages, working closely with Structural Engineers, Architectural Technologists, Project Managers and multidisciplinary design teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and coordinate detailed structural drawings, 3D models and technical documentation for industrial, pharmaceutical and life sciences projects.
• Develop structural steelwork, reinforced concrete and associated structural design packages using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Work closely with Senior Structural Engineers and multidisciplinary design teams to develop practical, coordinated design solutions.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, structural details, sections and construction documentation.
• Develop and maintain accurate BIM models throughout the various stages of project delivery.
• Coordinate structural designs with architectural, civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines to identify and resolve design clashes.
• Participate in design coordination meetings with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure structural drawings and documentation comply with relevant Irish Building Regulations, Eurocodes and applicable industry standards.
• Review and incorporate design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the preparation of tender packages, construction drawings and as-built documentation.
• Provide technical assistance to project teams during construction, responding to design queries and resolving technical issues.
• Mentor and support junior technicians and designers, ensuring high standards of technical accuracy and drawing quality.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of BIM processes, design standards and project delivery procedures.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology or a related discipline.
• Significant experience working as a Structural Technician, Structural Designer or Senior Structural BIM Technician within an engineering consultancy or multidisciplinary design environment.
• Previous experience delivering projects within the Irish Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences or Manufacturing sectors is essential.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, particularly in structural modelling and detailing.
• Demonstrable experience producing structural steelwork and reinforced concrete drawings and detailed design documentation.
• Strong understanding of Irish Building Regulations, construction standards and relevant Eurocodes.
• Experience coordinating structural designs with other engineering and architectural disciplines.
• Excellent technical drawing, detailing and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, clients and project stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages and deliver work to agreed project deadlines.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working on large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, process buildings or complex industrial developments.
• Familiarity with BIM Level 2 processes and ISO 19650 standards.
• Experience using Navisworks or other BIM coordination software.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering consultancies.
• Previous involvement in client-facing design coordination meetings.
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior structural technicians.
