We are seeking a senior structural engineer for a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Cork. The company operates in Ireland and the UK and offers great growth opportunities.
You will lead and support structural engineering commissions from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction and completion. You will work closely with clients, architects and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and delivery of building projects across concept, planning, detailed design and construction stages.
- Prepare and check structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and technical submissions.
- Design in a range of materials, including structural steel, reinforced and precast concrete, masonry and timber.
- Coordinate structural designs within BIM-led, multidisciplinary project environments.
- Attend and contribute to client, design-team and site meetings; provide clear technical advice throughout construction.
- Manage assigned project deliverables, programme requirements, quality and commercial performance.
- Support, mentor and review the work of graduate engineers and technicians.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, architects, contractors and colleagues, while contributing to the continued growth of the Cork office.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (or in process), ideally with Engineers Ireland and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
- At least 7 years’ post-graduate experience in structural engineering design within a consulting engineering environment.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering building projects through design and construction.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Eurocodes and Irish/UK design standards.
- Competence in structural analysis and design software, together with experience of BIM/Revit coordination.
- Excellent communication, organisation and client-facing skills.
- A collaborative, proactive and solution-focused approach, with the confidence to take responsibility for project delivery.
