Job summary

ESB, Ireland's leading energy utility, invites applications for the Senior Manager, Smart Energy Service (SES) based in Dublin. You will lead the SES business strategy, drive growth, governance and risk management, and develop a high‑performing multidisciplinary team across engineering, digital and commercial functions.

The role requires a deep understanding of energy services, Net Zero, and the ability to deliver innovative, data‑driven solutions for large energy users in Ireland and the UK.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience within utilities, construction or energy infrastructure environments.
• Experience in Energy Services or ESCO sector, with understanding of energy efficiency, energy management or distributed generation technologies.
• Awareness of Net Zero and low‑carbon energy transition challenges for utilities, customers and stakeholders in Ireland.
• Strong commercial mindset with ability to analyse, understand and articulate key drivers of financial performance and manage contractual risk across complex projects.
• Strong leadership capability to develop a high‑performance team and a culture of ownership, safety and delivery.
• Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a smart energy service business strategy aligned to ESB's Net Zero goals.
• Manage business performance, balancing financials, risk and customer requirements.
• Establish governance and risk frameworks to protect the business while maintaining agility.
• Develop innovative solutions using data analytics in a regulated environment.
• Lead a high‑performing SES team across engineering, project management, digital and commercial teams.
• Oversee contractor strategy and ensure on‑time, on‑budget, safe project delivery.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery and decarbonisation.
