Job summary

Carroll's Irish Gifts in Dublin is seeking a Store Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of a high-volume retail store. You will drive sales, manage people, stock and merchandising, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

You will lead a team, recruit and train staff, and ensure compliance with health & safety, security and company policy while achieving KPIs and profitability targets. This role is on-site with opportunities for bonus based on performance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of day-to-day running and overall store performance.
  • Be a people-first leader with consistent people management following policy.

  • Deliver sales, profitability and KPIs using data to forecast performance.
  • Set targets and motivate the team to achieve/exceed.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop and retain high-performing staff.
  • Manage rosters, staffing levels, payroll costs and attendance.
  • Lead by example with a customer-focused culture.
  • Handle escalated customer complaints when needed.
  • Manage stock availability, ordering, replenishment and stock takes.
  • Maintain visual merchandising and store presentation to standard.
  • Monitor budgets and identify profitability improvements.
  • Ensure health & safety, security, cash-handling and compliance.
  • Oversee opening/closing procedures, deliveries, maintenance and daily ops.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and external partners.
  • Monitor local competitors and market trends for growth opportunities.
  • Proactively implement initiatives to boost sales and customer experience.

Carroll's Irish Gifts is a 100% Irish owned retail chain of stores established in 1982, that stock leading Irish brands and a wide range of gifts.

We currently carry over 14,000 products across an extensive range of areas including, Irish themed gifts and clothing, Irish jewellery, Aran knitwear clothing and accessories, music and dance, confectionery, plush toys and kitchenware. We also stock a selection of big Irish brands including Guinness licensed product, Newbridge Silverware, and Solvar Jewellery amongst others.

Carroll’s Irish Gifts currently have 20 stores nationwide in prime high-street locations, employing over 300 people along with several online sales platforms. We are a certified “Great Place to Work” with continuous cultural growth and improvement.

Role overview:

Reporting to the Head of Sales and Operations, the Store Manager is responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day running of the Store, including sales, people, stock, and merchandising. Working closely with your team to provide an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the day to day running and overall performance of a fast paced, high-volume store.
  • Be people first leader ensuring all people procedures, talent management, performance, development and employee relations are managed consistently and in accordance with company guidance and policy.
  • Behave in line with our Failte Values embedding them across the store teams.
  • Deliver sales, profitability and store KPIs, using data and sales analysis to identify trends, forecast performance and drive results.
  • Set and communicate clear targets, motivating and coaching the team to achieve and exceed expectations.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop and retain a high-performing team.
  • Manage rotas, staffing levels, payroll costs, attendance and performance effectively.
  • Lead by example, creating a positive, accountable and customer focused team culture.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of customer service and personally manage escalated customer complaints where required.
  • Manage stock availability, ordering, replenishment, stock accuracy, stocktakes, shrinkage and loss prevention.
  • Maintain excellent visual merchandising, store presentation and operational standards.
  • Monitor budgets and operating costs, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Ensure all health & safety, security, cash-handling, audit and company compliance requirements are met.
  • Manage opening/closing procedures, store administration, deliveries, maintenance and day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and other external partners.
  • Monitor local competitors, market trends and customer behaviour to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Proactively implement initiatives and improvements that enhance sales, customer experience, team performance and operational efficiency.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing a retail store or similar high-volume customer-facing operation.
  • A strong track record of delivering sales, commercial and operational KPIs.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a team.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence working with sales and performance data.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience managing rotas, payroll, stock and operating costs.
  • A good understanding of health & safety, compliance, security and loss prevention.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to identify and implement improvements.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using retail systems and business data.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Business Central, Power BI an advantage.
