Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Part Time Casual, As Needed (PRN) Sterile Processing Technician-Non-Certified to handle decontamination, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and endoscopes. Responsibilities include instrument tracking, quality control, and supporting operating rooms and external customers.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree or High School/GED, strong communication, and basic computer skills, with knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards.

Qualifications

• Must exhibit strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Requires basic computer skills.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, as well as perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Working knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the decontamination, disinfection and cleaning of various reusable surgical instruments.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of sterilization process and techniques involving steam and chemical means.
• Enter, modify and search for relevant information in the instrument tracking system.
• Incorporate infection control guidelines while transferring, storing and transporting sterile packages.
• Interact with external customers, such as vendors and surgical reps for processing of loaner trays and receipt of CEUs.
• Follow and promote industry standards and best practices (AAMI/AORN).
• Provide strong customer service to operating rooms and external clinics; think critically to meet patient needs.
• Assist in education and training of fellow associates.
