Job summary

EdgeTier is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in Ireland to own end-to-end delivery, translating product requirements into scalable backend solutions. You will architect APIs, services, and databases, and write high-quality Python while guiding AI coding tools to ensure quality.

You will mentor junior engineers, monitor performance, and contribute to architectural decisions in a small, high-trust team with significant autonomy and impact.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in product/SaaS or similar environment.
• Solid Python skills.
• SQL experience, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with data at scale in large datasets or high-volume systems.
• End-to-end engineering experience: local development, deployment, debugging in production, ongoing maintenance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex problems to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage time without close supervision.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and agents.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into technical specifications and own end-to-end delivery from design to release.
• Architect changes to EdgeTier's core product including APIs, services and databases.
• Write high quality Python code and participate in code reviews.
• Direct and review AI coding agent output for quality.
• Monitor application performance and error logs.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and shape how EdgeTier is built.
