Job summary

Bon Secours in Dublin is seeking a Staff Nurse to join the Nursing team, delivering high-quality patient care from admission to discharge while mentoring junior staff. You will work under NMBI guidelines, ensuring accurate documentation and effective handover using ISBAR.

The role includes medication safety, basic and advanced life support where applicable, and involvement in endoscopy procedures and hospital accreditation processes. A strong communicator with clinical experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Be a Registered General Nurse on the current live register of NMBI.
• Have at least five year’s relevant experience in the Irish Healthcare system.
• IT Skills are desirable.
• A current Basic Life Support certification is mandatory for all Nurses.
• Advanced Life Support certification, if applicable to area of work.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and evaluate patient care from admission to discharge.
• Maintain accurate documentation in patient records and ISBAR handover.
• Ensure medications policy compliance and safe drug handling.
• Provide mentorship to student nurses and junior staff.
• Assist in endoscopy procedures and monitoring during sedation when required.
• Contribute to hospital accreditation initiatives and data collection.
• Deputise for CNM and manage workload as needed.

Practice within policies and procedures, legal requirements, guidelines and standards as directed by the Nursing Department and NMBI.2. Be familiar with and practice within all policies, procedures and standards set out by the hospital.3. Provide effective and efficient nursing care by:i) Planning, implementing and evaluating care given to patients from admission to dischargeii) Completing nursing assessment care plan and other relevant documentation4. Report verbally and in writing, pertinent patient care information to appropriate nursing/medical staff and other clinical staff. Ensure all handover, reports and escalations are carried out using approved ISBAR handover tool.5. Liaise with and cooperate with other departments as required and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.6. Ensure all documentation relating to patient is accurately maintained in the patient’s medical records in line with policy and procedures and the record kept in a confidential manner and using only approved abbreviations.7. Comply with the medications policy ensuring that regulations for the safekeeping and recording of scheduling drugs are adhered to at all times.8. Carries out IV Cannulation of patients according to hospital policy.9. Display a professional, courteous and caring liaison with patients and their relatives, staff and all other service users in line with the Bon Secours values.10. Function effectively and respond quickly and calmly in an emergency situation.11. Provide care with minimal supervision and takes charge of the department in the absence of the CNM.12.
