Qualifications

• Hold an RGN qualification and be registered, or eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the NMBI Register.
• Demonstrate relevant post-registration nursing experience, preferably within a surgical or acute hospital setting.
• Demonstrate strong clinical skills and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care and treatments to the highest professional standards, in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, guidelines and best practice.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care using the nursing process, while maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation and records.
• Support effective discharge planning based on individual patient needs and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote continuity of care.
• Safely administer prescribed medications, including IV medications, blood and blood products and controlled drugs, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Monitor patients following medication administration, recognise and report adverse reactions or medication errors promptly, and take appropriate action in line with established protocols.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and best practice guidelines, working closely with the Infection Control Nurse to prevent and manage infections.
• Ensure the safe handling and appropriate disposal of clinical and medical waste in accordance with hospital policies, while maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
