Job summary

Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is recruiting part-time, temporary Staff Nurses for the Collections/Nursing Department on a Limerick Mobile Team. The role supports the CNM, aims to grow the donor base, and strengthens operational resilience.

You will act as CNM when required and must hold NMBI registration, with at least two years post-registration experience and a driving licence. IBTS offers a competitive salary scale (€45,259–€58,424 pro rata), a strong work–life balance, ongoing

Post 1482 & 1483 Staff Nurse Collections/Nursing Department

Part Time – Temporary

The IBTS is currently recruiting part-time, temporary, Staff Nurses based in the Collections/Nursing Department, National Blood Centre.

The IBTS is a non-commercial state agency with responsibility for collecting, testing, processing and distributing blood and blood products within the Republic of Ireland. We are also responsible for the Irish Unrelated Bone Marrow Registry and the Tissue Bank. We rely completely on our community of voluntary non-remunerated donors to provide sufficient donations to ensure a consistent supply of blood and blood products to enable life‑saving patient care. Our products and services are essential to healthcare and impact patient care across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties.

IBTS Collections clinics are nurse‑led, managed by a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM). The role of the Registered Nurse (RN) on the Limerick Mobile team is to work with the CNM to support the organisation in progressing its strategic ambitions to grow and diversify our donor base to meet the evolving needs of patients and healthcare partners, to optimise operational resilience ensuring a solid foundation for sustainable growth, to future‑ready our workforce, and drive targeted innovation to solve priority challenges. When required, the RN will act as CNM to lead the team

The RN is at all times expected to practice within the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Practice and Scope of Practice and within the IBTS Quality System and Code of Conduct

The Limerick Mobile Team covers Limerick city, Limerick County and surrounding counties

• To be registered with NMBI (live register) in any division.
• Have at least 2 years post registration experience, relevant to the role of the Registered Nurse in the IBTS.
• Demonstrate experience in managing people.
• Evidence of recent continuous professional development (CPD)
• Excellent written communication skills, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proven IT skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook) and experience of working with electronic Patient Management / Learning Management systems
• Full Driving Licence

The salary scale attached to the post is the Enhanced Nurses scale €45,259 to €58,424 (incl. LSI) pro rata per annum. Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience.

• b) A citizen of United Kingdom (UK)
• c) A citizen of Switzerland in regards to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the movement of people
• d) A non‑EEA citizen who has a stamp 4 visa
• e) A person awarded international protection under the International Protection Act 2015, or any family member entitled to remain in the State as a result of family reunification and has a stamp 4 visa
• f) A non‑EEA citizen who is a parent of a dependant child who is a citizen of and resident in an EEA member state if the UK or Switzerland and has a stamp 4 visa.
