Job summary

Stripe's Premium Merchant Experiences team in Dublin is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to define technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, and build reliable systems. As an early hire, you will influence fast-paced product delivery while upholding high quality standards.

You will design production systems, review code, and collaborate with Product and leadership to align on a long-term vision and create exceptional merchant experiences across Stripe's platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional backend or full-stack development experience.
• Experience setting and executing long-term technical strategy for a large product area.
• Ability to prioritize competing requirements and iterate shipping features.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and growing engineers.
• Superb communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• User empathy and customer-centric problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production systems with a focus on reliability and usability.
• Write and review code regularly to set high standards.
• Deliver high-quality end-to-end product experiences with care for users.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
• Partner with Engineering Management and Product to drive long-term vision.
• Unblock the team and make tradeoffs aligned with business priorities and user needs.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Mentor other engineers to grow future leaders.
