Job summary

Datadog in Ireland seeks a Staff Engineer for the Compute – Disruption and Workload Placement team to help scale Kubernetes for AI and cloud-native workloads across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.

You will write production Go, influence platform architecture, and partner with infrastructure teams to optimize regional and multi-cloud capacity, ensuring reliability and performance for 100,000+ VMs.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing and operating large-scale Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
• Proficient in Go and systems programming.
• Hands-on with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and distributed cloud infra.
• Strong systems mindset and capacity planning experience.
• Ability to influence architecture without direct management authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction of capacity management and workload placement for Datadog's Kubernetes platform.
• Design and build systems to optimize scheduling and deployment across regions with capacity constraints.
• Collaborate with infra teams to evolve multi-region and multi-cloud capacity orchestration.
• Develop production software in Go to enhance Kubernetes capabilities and operations.
• Leverage data signals to forecast growth and improve workload placement strategies.
