Job summary

Ahoy is seeking a senior engineer in Dublin to set technical direction for core platforms, including event pipelines and CRM data models. Your role encompasses designing and shipping critical systems while collaborating with founders on the engineering roadmap.

The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in production software and a strong background in backend systems and data infrastructure. This hybrid position requires a commitment to in-person collaboration several days a week.

Job description

Most senior IC on the engineering team. You set the technical direction for the platforms everything else gets built on — event pipelines, agent orchestration, the CRM data model. You design, you ship, and you raise the floor on what the team is capable of.

What you'll do

• Design and own the critical systems: how data flows in, how agents reason over it, how decisions get back to customers.
• Pick the right level of abstraction. Avoid the wrong one. Push back when speed and quality fight each other.
• Mentor — design reviews, code reviews, pairing — without making yourself the bottleneck.
• Partner with the founders on the engineering roadmap; partner with GTM on the things customers actually need next.
• Help us hire the next wave of engineers. The bar starts with you.

What you bring

• 8+ years shipping production software, including time at Staff / Principal / Tech Lead level.
• You've led architecture for systems used at meaningful scale — and shipped them, not just diagrammed them.
• Deep on at least one of: backend distributed systems, AI / LLM systems, data infrastructure.
• Calm under load. You make systems and the people running them better at the same time.
• Hybrid out of Dublin. In person several days a week with the team.

Bonus

• Production experience with LLM agent systems — orchestration, retrieval, evals, cost / latency tuning.
• Built CRM, sales-tech, or pipeline platforms before.
• Open-source work, writing, or talks that show how you reason about systems.
