Job summary

Google Dublin, Ireland is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager for the Gemini App SRE team to lead a group responsible for uptime, scalability and reliability of critical services.

You will mentor engineers, drive end-to-end ownership, and collaborate across time zones on large distributed systems, applying strong coding, debugging and design skills to keep Google's platforms fast and resilient.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• 3+ years leading projects.
• 3+ years designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Software/Systems Engineers on projects for users and be responsible for uptime.
• Own end-to-end availability and performance of key services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
• Lead by example, mentor the team and establish credibility through quality technical execution.
• Manage on-call rotations across continents, using a follow-the-sun model.
• Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of Google’s services.
