Job summary

Acuity Inc. in Cork, Ireland, is seeking a Software Squad Leader to join the Electronics organization.

You will lead a multidisciplinary Scrum team developing firmware, software controllers, wireless features and configuration tools for Acuity’s LED drivers and lighting control systems. You will combine hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, translate complex product needs into clear direction, mentor engineers, and help the squad apply AI responsibly to accelerate analysis,

Qualifications

• Five or more years of full‑stack software development experience in embedded/IoT or hardware‑centric environments.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C, C#/.NET, JavaScript and React across firmware, backend and frontend components.
• Solid knowledge of software architecture, system design, secure engineering and code review.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for the squad across firmware, backend and frontend components.
• Collaborate with architects to translate vision into maintainable designs.
• Lead AI‑assisted engineering practices while ensuring review and validation of outputs.
• Contribute hands‑on to software controllers, configuration tools, and UIs using C#, JavaScript and React; embedded C firmware.
• Work with hardware for integration, debugging, validation of complex system behavior.
• Design and implement connected‑product capabilities using TCP/UDP/BLE/Thread.
• Shape backlog items with Product Owner and support Agile planning.
• Review AI‑generated designs, code, tests and docs for correctness and security.
• Mentor engineers in problem solving, coaching and knowledge sharing.
