Job summary

Medforce is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist for Paediatrics to provide high-quality, evidence-based services to children within Primary Care in County Laois.

The post-holder will assess, diagnose and deliver intervention for speech, language, and swallowing difficulties, working closely with families, GPs, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to improve access and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with CORU registration.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to evidence-based, person-centred practice.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and provide evidence-based intervention for speech, language, and swallowing issues.
• Develop person-centred therapy programmes and review outcomes.
• Provide individual, group, and parent/carer interventions.
• Liaise with GPs, schools, families and Primary Care teams.
• Maintain confidential clinical records and reports.
• Identify and manage safeguarding and risk concerns.
• Promote communication, participation and independence.
• Participate in supervision, CPD, audit and quality improvement.
• Contribute to service development and improved access to SLT.

Speech and Language Therapist – Paediatrics

To provide a high-quality, evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy service to children and/or adults within Primary Care in County Laois.

The post holder will assess, diagnose and provide intervention for speech, language, communication and, where appropriate, swallowing difficulties, working in partnership with service users, families, carers and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapist – Paediatrics

• Provide assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based intervention.
• Develop person-centred therapy programmes and review outcomes.
• Provide individual, group and/or parent/carer intervention and advice.
• Liaise with GPs, schools, families and Primary Care multidisciplinary teams.
• Make appropriate referrals and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning.
• Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records and reports.
• Identify and manage clinical, safeguarding and risk concerns appropriately.
• Promote communication, participation and independence.
• Participate in clinical supervision, CPD, audit and quality improvement.
• Contribute to service development and improved access to Speech and Language Therapy.

Essential Requirements of Speech and Language Therapist – Paediatrics

• Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• CORU registered
• Relevant clinical knowledge and experience.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to evidence-based, person-centred practice and continuing professional development.

Desirable

• Experience in Primary Care, community or multidisciplinary settings.
• Experience working with children and/or adults, as relevant to the post.
• Experience of group work, parent/carer education or service development.
• Experience of clinical audit and quality improvement.
