Job summary

ESB seeks a Solution Architect to work across IT and OT, shaping architecture to meet business needs while aligning with the ESB roadmap. You will drive architecture integrity across agile and waterfall projects and oversee changes to deliver robust, compliant solutions.

You will collaborate with Retail, Networks, Digital Accelerator, Digital Factory and Project Delivery to apply best-practice architecture standards, manage security controls, and produce decision papers for investments.

Job description

ESB are looking for a Solution Architect, that will work across both IT and OT domains You will be responsible for architecting the solution to fit the business requirements while understanding the overarching architecture roadmap. You will work on both agile and waterfall projects providing solution integrity design and oversight.

Solution Architects work closely with the various ESB business areas from Retail to Networks, Digital Accelerator, Digital Factory and Project Delivery ensuring a consistent & best practice approach to architecture is applied across ESB and all its business units in order to enable ESB’s strategic ambition in a cost effective and responsive way.

As part of the ITD organisation, our Solution Architects are primarily involved in the selection and implementation of Digital & IT solutions to meet business requirements both now and into the future. Solution Architects demonstrate a wide breadth of utility industry knowledge and IT architecture capability by understanding the impact of change on the full enterprise solution. They are responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity and supportability of all change, be that large projects, products or smaller changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and contribute to business cases, project designs and governance submissions to ensure alignment with ESB enterprise architecture principles, policies and standards.
• Lead the development and delivery of high-level IT and OT architecture, ensuring compliance with enterprise requirements and strategic objectives.
• Ensure appropriate cyber security controls are embedded across IT and OT environments to protect business operations and information assets.
• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security and domain architects to design compliant, scalable solutions that meet business and non-functional requirements.
• Balance competing business priorities, risks, timelines and stakeholder demands to recommend best-fit solutions that optimise value for ESB.
• Maintain end-to-end solution integrity across design, delivery and change management activities, ensuring consistency with architectural standards.
• Produce architecture artefacts, technical decision papers and presentations, while supporting RFT processes and technical evaluations to inform investment and procurement decisions

Experience and Qualifications

• Third-level qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of seven years' experience in solution, enterprise, infrastructure or technology architecture roles.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and business audiences.
• Proven ability to lead through change, adapt to evolving priorities and support successful transformation initiatives.
• Deep understanding of utility industry systems, applications and integration architectures across business and operational technology environments.
• Strong knowledge of application, integration, infrastructure, cloud and cyber security architecture principles and practices.
• Ability to apply enterprise architecture principles, policies and standards to design robust, scalable and compliant technology solutions
• A good understanding of Technology, Legal, Security, Regulatory & Data Protection principles.
• Knowledge of business continuity planning principles, information security and IT Security risk management.
• Demonstration of Continued Professional Development is essential.
• Above all, you must be a self-starter, be innovative in your approach and be able to demonstrate your ability to actively contribute to a team that delivers results.
• IASA CITA-F qualification or similar
• SAFe Agile Architecture Certification & Scaled Agile experience
• Knowledge, experience, or certification in TOGAF or similar Enterprise Architecture framework

Location

This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2.

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

€71,900 - €84,600 per annum (depending on experience)
