Job summary

Google Ireland is seeking software engineers to help build the next-generation networking and infrastructure for Google’s private WAN backbone. You will work on projects critical to B4, with opportunities to switch teams as the business evolves. Strong leadership and a passion for solving complex distributed problems are essential.

The role emphasizes performance optimization, scalable design, and collaboration across teams to deliver reliable, high-availability services at global scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• Experience programming in C++.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production data to find gaps/error patterns/opportunities for existing system.
• Design, develop, integrate and test the features for B4 availability, scaling, NPIs.
• Debug in highly integrated B4 ecosystem including traffic engineering and admission control.
• Prioritize work and ensure incremental progress.
• Help team members and partner teams understand the broader context, and solve the right problems at the right time.

• Understanding of Internet routing technologies and router/switch telemetry.
