Job summary

Toast is seeking a software engineer to design and build high-performing backend and frontend components for our restaurant platform. You will ship features end-to-end, collaborate with product, design and engineering, and continuously improve with AI-assisted development tools.

You'll work across stack—from Java/Kotlin backend to React frontends—embracing ambiguity and agile delivery to deliver value to operators and their guests.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend/full-stack experience delivering impactful products.
• Ability to read and integrate with frontend applications.
• Interested in AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents.
• Effectively works with ambiguity, agile delivery, and shipping usable software incrementally.
• Passionate about making users happy and seeing people use your product in the wild.
• Strong code quality, unit tests, and evolving workflow with AI tooling.
