Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer I for its Mastercard Launch graduate program in Dublin. The role focuses on building secure, scalable software that processes payments and supports fraud detection.

Eligible candidates are final-year students pursuing a relevant bachelor’s or accelerated master’s degree. You’ll join a cohort-based program designed to grow your skills in a fast-paced, inclusive environment with opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow your career in payments

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in final year of bachelor’s or accelerated master's program.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages listed in the skills section.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication, good teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality, secure, and maintainable code across the software lifecycle.
  • Contribute to design, development, testing, and rollout phases.
  • Own components including monitoring, dependencies, build and deployments in a global team.
  • Collaborate effectively in a global environment.

The Software Development Engineer I is a full time role within Mastercard Launch, a cohort based, graduate development program designed to build the skills you’ll leverage most as an innovator in the payments space. Eligibility requires that you currently be a graduating senior, pursuing a relevant degree.

Role
  • A hands-on engineer who writes high-quality code with a focus on security, design, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to all phases of software development from design through rollout.
  • Have strong ownership of your team’s software including monitoring, dependencies, build, and deployments.
  • Communicate, collaborate and work effectively in a global environment.
About You
  • Currently enrolled in your final year of a bachelor’s or accelerated master’s program
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and a good team player.
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and apply AI-driven solutions to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and software development processes.
  • Interested in writing PLSQL queries in Oracle.

Knowledge of cloud-native application development and deployment using AWS, Azure, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Docker, and modern DevOps practices. Experience with AI/ML and GenAI services in cloud environments is a plus.
