Job summary

Maisa is a Europe-based, early-stage AI startup offering remote work with optional hubs in Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia. We are building Agentic Process Automation and seek a senior backend engineer to design and implement scalable services.

You will work with Go and Python, microservices on Kubernetes, collaborate with clients, and help shape our technology. Remote from Ireland, you’ll join a fast-moving team and have the opportunity to influence culture from day one.

Qualifications

• 3-7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Production experience with Go and Python.
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems.
• Familiarity with Redis (or equivalent in-memory data stores) and MongoDB.
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised services in production.
• Comfortable with AWS and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with high ownership.
• Strong communication skills - you'll be working closely with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Genuine curiosity about AI and how it's reshaping how products are built.

About The Role

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Go and Python across a microservices architecture deployed on Kubernetes

What We're Looking For

• 3-7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus
• Production experience with Go and Python - we primarily use Go, but if your Go experience is limited you can ramp up
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems
• Experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems
• Familiarity with Redis (or equivalent in-memory data stores) and MongoDB
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised services in production
• Comfortable with AWS and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with high ownership
• Strong communication skills - you'll be working closely with clients and cross-functional teams
• Genuine curiosity about AI and how it's reshaping how products are built

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, LLM integration, or agentic workflows
• Exposure to vector databases or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Experience in an early-stage or scaling startup
• Background in security architecture or SRE practices

Location

Fully remote. We have offices in Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia - visiting is entirely optional.
